Hi, I’m Stephen. I’m a modern designer/creative director with a heart for nostalgia. I enjoy helping brands find their own identity in a competitive landscape. Good design helps brands find and use their unique voice to tell their story. The next (and maybe best) step is applying it: through websites, printed materials, advertising, packaging, and more.

 
 
 
Songwriter | Universal Music Publishing

As a signed writer for UMPG, I wrote songs for artists including Howie Day, Ryan Cabrera, and Natasha Bedingfield. I had writing sessions with accomplished songwriters like Grammy Award-winners Mark Bryan (Hootie & the Blowfish) and Lori McKenna, and prolific writers including Jonathan Singleton and Dave Gibson.

Lead Instructor | Carolina Studios

Carolina Studios is a nonprofit organization teaching students in South Carolina creativity and computer skills through music education. As Lead Instructor, I helped students in underserved areas in Charleston County learn how to write, record, and produce original music. I brought our mobile studio to schools and community centers and instructed students as well as designing and implementing a manual of the program’s lessons.

At Whip Creative, our tag line was “big ideas for small businesses.” We helped small and fledgling businesses find their unique voice within their industry and paired it with a logo and branding, website, printed materials, and whatever else a business needed. We helped develop brand identities for companies in industries such as real estate, live entertainment, restaurants and hospitality, industrial coating, and many, many more.

As the sole designer for the company, I modernized the brand’s materials with a more modern color palette and appealing illustration style. I extended into designing and editing video content for ads, video series, and more.

Lead Designer | Terradatum

In this role, I completed a full brand refresh, updating the company logo and identity materials into a cohesive brand. Along with continuing to design all marketing materials and assets for campaigns, I took a lead in visual strategy: designed a full conference booth experience, completed an full website overhaul, and helped to carve out Terradatum’s visual identity in the real estate tech space through compelling visual design and direction.

Creative Director | Beck Digital

After joining Beck, I ideated and designed the office, tying in the founders’ roots in tech with where the future of the company is headed. I sourced and styled art, furniture, lighting, and worked with an artist to create original murals installed in the space. I straddle the worlds of creative directing the Beck Digital brand and overseeing my team as they design and develop web, digital, and print for our growing roster of clients.
